I would like to thank United Professional for their outstanding performance at Swedish Orthopedic Institute. The Swedish project was clad in a very complex skin system designed to deflect vertically under floor loading and rack horizontally in a seismic event. This differential movement had our design team, consultants, and subcontractors baffled as to how to deliver a warranted, water tight building to the client. It was not until United Professional was on board that a solution that everyone could agree on was discovered for a particularly troublesome 3” wide expansion joint.
United Professionals’ performance and attention to detail in the field led by James Johnson was also stellar. The tooled joints completed by your team were so far superior to those done by others on the project that it lead our architects to believe that a different sealant was being used – when in fact it was only a difference in the quality of craftsmanship.
Working with United Professional was a great pleasure, and an experience that I hope to repeat on future projects. Thank you for all of your hard work.
Sincerely,
Jaret Johnson

I’m not sure if we have met or not, but I just wanted to relay my input in regards to your man Troy Johnson. I’ve been dealing with Troy for the past several months here at the Olivian. Troy has met and exceeded all my expectations for his scope of work on this project.
He is a pleasure to deal with and I never have to talk to him twice about completing his work. The City of Seattle inspector (Eric Lundstrom) has been very impressed with the quality of work that Troy has done. I feel that Troy deserves a much earned pat on the back and look forward to completing this project with him and hope that I have the chance to have his help on future jobs.

Usually in this industry people are called out for the errors and lack of willingness to do a quality and timely job. So, I wanted to take a moment to let you know that Lorin has done such high quality work, that even our architect described it as the best caulking he had ever seen. Rarely have I come across a person who was as willing and able to handle their work with such professionalism. He neither comes up with excuses, or avoids the work that needs to be done. It has been a pleasure working with him for this project and I felt that you ought to know that you have a high quality employee in Lorin. Both I and others have been impressed by both his work and his work ethic.
Thank you,

[On the 600 Broadway project]
The building owner recommended I call Wayne Belcher of Uniproseal Corporation who has done maintenance on their building and who is working across the street on the Swedish Orthopedic Institute. Wayne called in all his favors with friends in the glazing business to help me out of my pickle.
Wayne has managed to cobble together a mix of companies to get the job done. Wayne has come through for me and delivered excellent customer service along the way.
I would never have thought to call a caulker to find a glazier. This tactic is not recommended, but if you need a caulker, please give Uniproseal a call.

...I have NEVER had anything less than stellar performance from you or your team. It is our responsibility to ensure our subs represent us in a professional manor."
In the case of Unipro, I have zero qualms about having your guys work on site (Swedish Hospital) without direct supervision/oversight from us.
Thanks Wayne, for all you do!

Dear Mr. Belcher,
I have now had the pleasure of working with United Professionals on two large projects: WSP Expansion ($120 million) and now the Coyote Ridge Correction Center ($180 million). The level of quality maintained by United Professionals is second to none and I couldn't be more pleased with how things are going.

Hi Wayne-
Thought I should let you know I have sold Eastside Glass to 3 employees effective January 1, 2008.
It's been a pleasure watching your evolution from caulker to businessman and entrepreneur.....very impressive! You have elevated the professionalism of the industry to heights I never thought possible, for which you should be very proud.
Good luck to you in all your future ventures.
Sincerely,

Subject: Letter of Recommendation
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to this letter to provide evidence that United Professional has performed exemplary for Turner Construction at the Washington State Penitentiary Close Security Compound – Phase I.
United Professional’s contract value for this project is $1,184,065. Throughout the project UPI has demonstrated superior quality of workmanship and the ability to fulfill all scheduling needs. In addition to being a valued asset to the project UPI has been requested to perform other scopes of work that normally would be other trade work. UPI has performed the extra work without impacting the original contract work performance or schedule.
I strongly recommend UPI for any type of sealant, restoration or fire safing job without reservation.
Best Regards,

I wanted to let you know about United Professional, a caulking company that has performed very well for us here in Seattle and has recently begun working in Portland. Their owner, Wayne Belcher, said he would be interested in pursuing work with Turner in Portland. They have done both large and small projects either directly contracted with Turner or as a second tier sub to the Curtainwall sub on the job. Projects include: Qwest Field, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Marriott Waterfront Hotel, 2200 Westlake, and the Washington State Penitentiary to name a few. Several Turner references here are available if you need any. Contact info below.

Wayne,
I just completed a review with Joe Geist of the current status of compliance of all subcontractors regarding submission of safety information for this project. I want to thank you for being 100% compliant in all areas. I am glad to work with a contractor such as yourself who takes safety as importantly as we do. Thank you again.

I wanted to thank you for Unipro's professional performance waterproofing
the Denny Way blade signs, and ST and WT awnings. Thank you also for the
timely quotes.
Unipro was always ready and standing by to do the waterproofing. This was
very helpful to me considering the difficult scheduling of the numerous
trades involved and the repeat trips necessary due to the challenging
sequencing. Unipro always performed their work in a timely manner. This was
largely in part to James Johnson. He did a great job of coordinating with
Turner and offered helpful suggestions. On a personal note, James was very
friendly, personable and brought a sense of humor to the job.
Thank you.

We would like to invite UNIPRO and DOW to give your sealant seminar lunch presentation at our office. We understand this session will require two hours and includes a combination of sealant chemistry offered by DOW in addition to best practices regarding sealant installation from UNIPRO. We also understand single and staged sealant joint installation will be covered and that AIA credits are available through DOW. We will have about fifteen people at this session.
Many of our staff have expressed a keen interest in this presentation. We are a long time champion of DOW products and appreciate their insight on sealant chemistry and etc, however, many of our newer construction and design staff could benefit from your insight to field installation best practice and your insight on the failure mechanisms you have observed.
We have Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday available from the week of August 13 forward. We are located at 701 Dexter Avenue North, Suite 301 in Seattle, 98109.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Wayne,
I was actually the one that won your "sealant manual" at the presentation. Thank you! I am the envy of several others here in the office.
Thanks again.

"The Sealant Manual is a wonderful resource -- one of the more pleasant to read reference manuals out there, with visuals and pictures in a well-laid out visual style that speaks to the design professional, the craftsperson, as well as your average Joe homeowner. But, most importantly, it contains a wealth of information. The chart on page 14 alone was worth it! Thank you, Wayne, for your work in summarizing all that went into this resource. I would say it will sit at a permanent spot on my desk, except that I've borrowed my co-worker's copy and still have to get my own!"
Thanks, too, for setting aside a tool set and sealants at Atlas for me.
Will try to pick it up soon. I truly appreciate it!

For CAT caulking tools:
Keith and I saw Pacific Coast Marine today – they build doors and windows for expensive yachts, using a variety of sealants. Unsolicited by us, they brought out their tooling device of choice….a soapy finger. Just kidding, they brought out the CAT. See me or Keith for contact info if you want to pursue.
